De Mozilla Foundation heeft versie 115.0 van Thunderbird uitgebracht. Thunderbird is een opensourceclient voor e-mail en nieuwsgroepen, met features als ondersteuning voor verschillende mail- en newsaccounts. Verder is er een spamfilter, spellingscontrole, kalender, adresboek en heeft het een aanpasbaar uiterlijk. In versie 115 treffen we onder meer een nieuwe gebruikersinterface aan, die Mozilla de naam Supernova heeft meegegeven. Verder de kalender en adresboek verbeterd en worden links nu niet meer in Thunderbird geopend, maar in de standaard webbrowser. De complete changelog voor deze uitgave kan hieronder worden gevonden. Resolume is een applicatie die speciaal voor live video is ontwikkeld en bijvoorbeeld kan worden gebruikt door vj’s die een live videoperformance geven. Door gebruik te maken van verschillende toetsen op het keyboard of midiapparaat kun je beelden afwisselen, over elkaar afspelen en bewerken. Er is ondersteuning aanwezig voor de gangbare beeldbestandstypen, waaronder avi, mov, mpg, swf, gif, jpg, bmp, en psd. Daarnaast kan een capture device, zoals een camera, webcam of tv-tuner, worden gebruikt. De ontwikkelaars hebben Resolume Arena en Avenue 7.16.0 uitgebracht, voorzien van de volgende aankondiging: Resolume 7.16 Released | Effect Colors ? Improved Text Rendering & Mucho More You can now color your effects in Arena & Avenue! :rainbow: This is handy when you have a long list of effects in your compositions. Text rendering is improved in Arena, Avenue & Wire, you can now render text outlines and glows :sun_with_face:. There are 4 new nodes in Wire; Quantize, Normalize, Element & Video Sampler. You can now copy & paste images in Wire. There are two new shortcuts in Wire: Command+Shift+R to rename a node, and Command+J to quickly join nodes. Furthermore, clicking on an input in the dashboard now selects the node in the patch. Handy! Effect Colors Just like you color clips, layers, groups and decks you can now color effects to more easily distinguish them from each other. This is especially handy when you use many effects in your compositions. Right-click an effect header to pick a color you fancy. And did you know you can rename an effect too? Text Rendering Improvements Not only can you now use fonts and certain styles that did not work before but you can now also render text outlines, inner glow, outer glow, and when you combine these two you get a neon effect. You’ll find these new option in the Arena & Avenue Text Block and Text Animator source and effect but also in the Wire Text Render node. Copy & Paste Images To quickly bring images into your patch you can now paste them straight into Wire. Just hit Command+v after copying an image from anywhere and it will create an image node with that image for you. And to quickly copy a frame from you patch you can now right-click on a monitor to copy it. We’re currently also building this into Arena & Avenue so look out for that in the next release… New Nodes The Quantize node quantizes the incoming value or texture. This allows you to quantize the signal into discrete steps. The Normalize node does what it says, it normalizes float values. The Element node retrieves a single element from a type that has multiple elements. For instance to extract a single channel from a Texture2d RGBA or a single element from a Float 2/3/4. Checkout their example patches to see how they work. The Video Sampler node allows you to sample a video file at a specific time using the Phase inlet that takes a value from 0 to 1 to scroll through the video. New Shortcuts To quickly patch multiple nodes with the same main outlet into a Join node simply select them and hit Command+J. Huge time saver! Mozilla heeft een tweede update voor versie 115 van zijn webbrowser Firefox uitgebracht, de laatste versie die nog ondersteuning biedt voor Windows 7 en 8, en macOS 10.12, 10.13 en 10.14. In versie 115 heeft Mozilla onder meer verbeteringen aangebracht in het importeren van instellingen uit andere browsers, is er hardwareversnelling voor Intel-gpu’s onder Linux en kunnen tabbladen eenvoudiger worden afgesloten vanuit de tab manager. Versie 1.5.0 van XnView MP is uitgekomen. Met dit programma kunnen afbeeldingen worden bekeken en bewerkt. Het is gratis voor persoonlijk gebruik, voor gebruik in een commerciële omgeving wordt wel een vergoeding gevraagd. MP staat voor Multi Platform, wat betekent dat er versies zijn voor Windows, Linux en macOS, met elk aparte downloads voor 32bit- en 64bit-omgevingen. XnView MP gebruikt dezelfde broncode voor Windows, Linux en macOS; functionaliteit en uiterlijk van de afzonderlijke versies zijn dan ook nagenoeg gelijk. Zo is er onder andere ondersteuning voor unicode, afbeeldingen met full bit depth, een eenvoudigere manier voor vertalingen en een betere database. Versie 32.3.0 van Pale Moon is uitgekomen. Deze webbrowser is ooit begonnen als een fork van Mozilla Firefox. Door optimalisaties voor moderne hardware en het weglaten van Accessibility-features en Parental Controls presteerde hij toen een stuk beter. Ook was er een 64bit-versie beschikbaar, ruim voordat Mozilla deze zelf aanbood. Intern werkt het op Goanna, een van Mozilla’s Gecko afgeleide browserengine. De browser is beschikbaar voor Windows en Linux, en als bèta ook voor macOS en FreeBSD. Vanaf versie 30 identificeert de browser zich naar buiten toe weer als een Firefox-browser, wat het eenvoudiger moet maken om oudere browserextensies te gebruiken. De download van Pale Moon is alleen in het Engels; een apart Nederlands taalbestand is beschikbaar.
